"Dickie's Bali Good Luck Bookmark"
Who hasn’t been to Bali? You know the warm weather, cheap cloths and the "Beach Sellers".
Having a positive impact on others to help themselves can be as simple as making a difference in one person’s life. Let me explain. I have visited Bali often over the years and like many other friends sponsor some children’s education which is very rewarding. However it is the ingenuity of the 'Beach Sellers' that always fascinates me.

Restricted to specific beach selling territories and certain products they are warm, friendly and persuasive sellers. Often their motivation to turn-up every day is simply to earn enough to support their family.

After the typical bargaining for the Massage, Tee Shirts, Sun Glasses, Watches, Hat and cool drinks to help you survive the process, most visitors are just not in the mood for the temporary Tattoo character "Dickie" With polite understanding he seemed to always remain friendly and patient. For years Dickie has been turning up each day for the few elusive sales.

Dickie has three children, all at school and lives with close family in Denpasar. Just a few Dollars is a significant help to his family. Not looking for a hand out he just wanted to be able to sell something as well as Tattoos.
So I asked the question, are you open to new thinking? A warm smile said it all. Working with what he enjoyed the most he sketched the “Good Luck Symbol” of Bali and explained the meaning. OK I said what we are going to do is produce a book-mark for you to sell as well as normal trade. I must confess there was an apparent lack of understanding just what a book-mark was as he had not seen any, in fact they just were not available.

It was his enthusiasm and attitude that had me send one hundred samples to him on my arrival home. On my next visit, I knew from his excitement he had taken this idea and worked with it. In fact he proudly gave me samples of his new stock, improved with various pictures and colours and a selling pitch few could refuse. Sales were now in the thousands, enough to make a real difference to his lifestyle.

This is yet another example that if you have an open Mindset and a willingness to take action, anything is possible.
